Riga, the capital of Latvia, was founded eight centuries ago near the bank of the River Daugava. The heart of Riga, where the story of the city starts, is called Old Riga. This is the place, where all historical evidences are geathered presenting unique cultural value, registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997

Public Gardens and Parks

City Canal, locetad on the side of Old Riga, is lined with a green area. Near there is a Bastion Hill (Bastejkalns), which is build of the earth of the levelled ramparts. Garden area there is adorned with fountains and sculptures. Summer time pleases with flower beds and blooming trees. Latvian National Opera house is located near this greenery, but the main object between Bastion Hill and Opera is The Freedom Monument, the symbol of Latvian freedom.

Entertainment and Restaurants

Audeju Street is one of the oldest streets in Riga, it has restaurants, bars, small souvenir shops and grocery store. Dare to walk around and find some more interesting places, for example "illuson room" with lots of surprises! Audeju Street is crossing Old Riga untill the river Daugava, where sightseeing trips on boats are available.
